Today’s love story is nothing short of passion, commitment, and unbelievable support! They say when one door closes, the other opens. That’s quite what happened when Pam and Jeremy who decided to have a Vegas wedding arrived at the airport just to know that their scheduled flight got canceled!
Now, we know the anxiety that creeps in when something unexpected happens on your wedding day. You do not want any last-minute surprises. They immediately booked the next available flight with Southwest airlines. When their Pilot noticed Pam’s wedding dress, he asked her about it. She explained their predicament and joked to him that they should just get married on the flight. To her surprise, he said, “Let’s do it!” Pam and Jeremy Salda take their wedding vows at 36,000 feet. About 60 passengers looked on at the impromptu in-flight wedding of Pam Patterson and Jeremy Salda on April 24.
We love how the industry extends its support to each other and go above & beyond to support the love. Everyone from the flight crew to the passengers got involved. You will be stunned to know how this last-minute setup came into play.
Decor- They took the toilet paper and made streamers at the front. They made Chris, the officiant, like a little sash out of snack packets and they clipped it together with cocktail spears.
Lighting- In addition to decorations, mood lighting was set using the plane’s call lights.
Maid of Honor- One of the Flight Attendants stepped in as Pam’s Maid of Honor.
Music- The crew downloaded a full wedding soundtrack before takeoff to be used in the ceremony. “Here Comes the Bride” played while the bride walked down the plane’s center aisle.
First Dance- After the officiant told Jeremy to kiss the bride, the happy couple danced in the aisle to Bruno Mars’s “Marry You,” and the entire flight erupted into cheers and applause.
Vows- Pam said- “I’m happy to be the check to your cross-check” and “I’ll weather any turbulence with you forever.” So apt, right!
Photography- One passenger who happened to be a professional photographer pulled out her camera for official wedding photos.
Guestbook- Another Passenger passed around an old notebook for the cabin to sign with their seat numbers and well-wishes, to be given to the couple as a guestbook.
Cake- Another passenger offered a leftover doughnut to serve as a makeshift wedding cake, which the bride and groom split in half and fed to each other.
Drinks- After the couple tied the knot, and the flight crew provided free drinks for attendees on the plane.
Pam was looking beautiful as she walked up the aisle from the back of the plane. Every single person on board was smiling and filming the ceremony with their cellphones.
“If I can spread kindness around like confetti by being silly and wearing a wedding dress to an airport, then I wouldn’t have it any other way,” the bride says.
The Southwest airline congratulated the couple and wished them happily ever after.
As a community that brings together the best of the wedding industry together every year and encourages collaborations, we love the support every passenger and crew member gave to the couple to make their special day truly incredible. In the end, all that matter is, love- in all forms and in all ways!
