New York Bridal Fashion Week’s Top Trends for Fall 2018

 

The mood for fall/winter 2018 fashion from Bridal Fashion Week is spirited and nostalgic at the same time. We see the return of beloved bridal elements such as big bows, floral embellishments and high collars, juxtaposed with new season autumnal trends such as furs and feathers, striking jewels, sultry sheer corsets and surprising hints of colors. Moving away from quintessential princess-y ball gowns, the runways displayed creations ideal for the modern bride, looking to get more out of her dress, than just walk down the aisle. We round up the top five trends you’d be seeing a lot more of in the season of winter weddings.

 

Shades Of Pink 

From the lightest, barely there blush at Naeem Khan to embroidered florals at Temperley London and ombré dessert-like ruffles at Oscar De La Renta, the Pantone-approved hue that has been a huge hit in wedding decors for 2017, shows no signs of taking a back seat.

 

Haute Hair

From intricate floral embellishments of Temperley London to bandana-style veils of Elie Saab, designers brought back the focus on hair accessories, influenced by regal references. Add feathers and chandelier earrings to the mix and you can officially skip all other ornaments.

 

Tiers Of Joy 

Not reserved just for the wedding cake, the new crop of delicate tiered skirts decorated with colorful flower appliqués, ribbons and lace for perfect to float down the aisle in style. Ethereal fabrics like organza and chiffon are ideal for a bohemian allure.

 

Super Bride

Capes have been a seasonal favorite this year, making its way across RTW shows and now bridal. Pioneering the trend, Solange Knowles famously wore a beautiful flowing cape with her minimal white jumpsuit, causing all fashion-forward brides-to-be to follow her lead. Zuhair Murad’s bridal collection for fall is rich in opulent embellishments on floor sweeping capes attached to body-hugging gowns and jumpsuits.

 

Birds Of A Feather…

For autumn, Vera Wang’s traditional bridal veil was replaced with a bohemian feathers, and instead of a cape, the bride donned lush white fur around her shoulders. Feathers and fringes became an important element of luxury to the bridal aesthetic this season. Designers found unique ways of incorporating the bold texture to skirts, veils and even jewellery, offering a plethora of options for free-spirited brides to pick from.
