Isn’t it just magical when your love story seems like it’s straight out of a movie? Don’t you wish that you found love like your favorite tv show couple? Well, Sweta and Varun sure found theirs! Fans of the hit series The Office will know that the central romance of Jim and Pam was a long way coming, and it had us all hoping to see our future spouse walk through our own office doors. Luckily for Varun and Sweta (aka the real-life Jim and Pam), they didn’t have to wait years for that moment.
How They Met
Some love stories start with two people connecting through social media. And while this typically means they connected on Facebook, Swetambari Verma and Varun Varadan met at Facebook, where they work!
In Swetambari’s words, “We met on my first day at work. Facebook has shuttles for employees, and on my first day, I asked someone Is this the shuttle stop for Facebook? That someone was Varun!”
Over the next few months, they kept crossing paths, and Varun inevitably fell for Swetambari. In a few months, they went on their first date and never stopped! They wasted no time writing their love story, and here they are now, happily married! (And although we love The Office, this is way better than waiting years, working boring jobs at a paper company!)
The Venue & Date
As most Indian weddings go, Sweta and Varun’s love was celebrated over two eventful days on the 1st & 2nd of May 2022. The wedding was held at the Taj Lands End, a 5-star hotel in Mumbai. From a fun-filled Bollywood-themed pre-wedding party to a ceremony with a mesmerizing setup, see how the planners of Knotty Relations helped this sweet couple live out their wedding day, captured skillfully by international award-winning photographers of What Knot Photography.
Decor & Planning / Inspiration Behind the Theme
As it was a cozy intimate wedding, when we started thinking of themes and ideas for decor, we had one simple instruction from their end; they wanted everything to be simple yet classy.
Beginning with the Mehendi ceremony, having a classic bohemian decor was the initial plan. But as Swetambari loves bright colors, we gave the theme a colorful twist making it a chic bright/colorful boho. Shares the Knotty Relations team.
Bollywood-Themed Sangeet & Cocktail Night
Great dance performance, good food, and batches of crazy cocktails. There was a beautiful surprise performance dedicated to the bride by our groom and his mom (who’s undoubtedly the coolest of them all). The sangeet performances were followed by an open dance floor with our DJ playing his best tunes! It was a crazy evening, indeed.
Haldi
Day 2 began with the Haldi ceremony, which was supposed to be very “sober” according to Varun, but they ended up having haldi all over! To everyone’s amazement, Swetambari’s family entered all decked up in South Indian attire for Varun.
Talking about the decor, we had our set up at the very beautiful poolside lawn with the traditional Indian Marigold and Tuberose flower hangings and huge urlis for the couple to be seated in. A decor like that would instantly light up your mood!
Next was the impassioned Jaimala. Hands down the best setup with a reflective mirror aisle and a breathtaking sunset view as the backdrop. Varun made a dashing dancing entry, and Swetambari surprised Varun with 5 very unique and personal vows:
- I vow to never watch the next episode without you!
- I vow to not zone out frequently when you’re talking
- I vow to give you as much importance as I give to my phone
- I vow to let you choose the movie for our movie nights (Sometimes :p)
- I vow to let you win arguments even when you’re wrong
Sweta entered with her brothers holding a floral chaddar over her. Varun’s reaction to her entry got us all teary-eyed. Finally, they got their perfect sunset jaimala photographs, and they couldn’t be happier about it!
These sweet and personal vows have us completely in our feels! And the way these two look at each other? That’s true love for sure!
Post our perfect sundowner jaimala on the lawn, finally comes the most awaited event of the two-day madness. Varun and Swetambari had their midnight pheras following Hindu traditions in the presence of their close family and friends, with Swetambari’s brother and sister-in-law performing the “Kanyadaan”. The wedding Mandap had a beautiful red-pink floral gradient backdrop and white and green florals suspended from the top, the décor totally complimented Swetambari and Varun’s Red and Ivory attire.
Varun and Sweta made sure we planners were treated like family. In fact, we fell in love with them, their love story, and their entire family! Everyone was so kind and sweet, and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to plan this wedding. We extend heartfelt gratitude to all the vendors involved in making this wedding an epic success!
