For They Say When You Marry In June, You’re A Bride All Your Life

“Oh, they say when you marry in June, you’re a bride all your life. And the bridegroom who marries in June gets a sweetheart for a wife. “
(An excerpt from the song “June Bride” in the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers)

Historically, June was the month of marriage. The name June is derived from the Roman goddess of marriage, Juno. Juno, the wife of Jupiter, was not only thought of in connection with feminine vitality, and fertility and considered a protectress of Roman women but also considered the equivalent of Hera, the Greek goddess of love and marriage. Families believed when a couple married in June, they would be blessed with happiness forever.

Because this month sees more weddings than any other, June has officially been dubbed “Wedding Month”. Maybe it is the beautiful weather, maybe it is the excitement of the beginning of summer, maybe it is because people can travel more easily – but whatever the reason, couples love the month of June! And no matter what month you are anticipating, June is a great time to talk about weddings and romance – after all, love is in the air.

So as we enter this beautiful month, here is some inspiration if you are planning a June wedding.

June Color Amethyst

The birthstone & color of this month is Amethyst. What a coincidence that it is very similar to the 2022 color of the year- Very Peri. Try an amethyst wedding ring if you are planning to propose during this month. For the decor, opt for lilac and lavender flowers along with chandeliers and intimate details like this design by Fadi Fattouh. From cake designs and stationery to wedding dress, this color is trending and gives a chic aesthetic appeal to your ceremony.

Roses & Some More Roses

When Robert Burns said – “O my Luve is like a red, red rose, That’s newly sprung in June; O my Luve is like the melody, That’s sweetly played in tune,” he accurately described the beauty of the fresh rose in June. The world’s most romantic flower would be perfect for the most romantic month, isn’t it? From aisle decor and tablescapes to bouquets, cake and floor, you can almost use this versatile flower in every part of your wedding. Just remember that there’s no such thing as too many roses!

Tented Weddings

June gives you the perfect excuse if your heart is set on having a tented wedding. The nice, warm outdoors are stunningly gorgeous and a tented wedding would enhance the feel of an intimate wedding. Have a translucent quality of sailcloth that will add a beautiful glow to the interior space of the tent. It can add an effortless elegance to a garden or backyard wedding. Work with natural tones like green and white and embellish it with lighting.

Yellow All The Way

If happiness had a color, it would be yellow. This bright cheery color compliments the spirit of June. As spring turns to summer, you’ll have gorgeous, temperate weather in June. You can use dahlias and sunflowers. We don’t see the popularity of a June wedding going away anytime soon and we are excited to see the influx of wedding pictures on social media that are certain to be posted soon!
