Naomi and Domagoj were one such lucky couple who got the wedding ceremony of their dreams, orchestrated by Velka Šuran, wedding producer/planner at LF Weddings. Along with the support of a team of talented and reliable vendors, Velka was able to create a wedding ceremony for the couple that was magical and enchanting to say the least. DWP Insider takes you through the journey of what went behind the scenes with this Croatian wedding.
A LOVE SAGA AWAITING TO BE TOLD: NAOMI & DOMAGOJ’S LOVE STORY
The guy plays soccer with the girl’s elder brother, then at the brother’s birthday party befriends the girl and a friendship develops…sounds like a story straight out of a modern day movie right? But guess what, this is how Domagoj and Naomi’s relationship began. After becoming friends, they started talking to each other day and night, becoming inseparable after a point of time and started dating each other.
Domagoj then decided to bring Naomi to visit Croatia and he first took her to Istria, where the magnanimity and tranquility of the St. Euphemia Church left her spellbound and at that very moment she decided this was where she wanted to get married! Understanding the spark in Naomi’s eyes and in line with her sentiments, Domagoj popped the question and proposed to her in 2021 after a romantic dinner in Rovinj and a visit to the same church! No prizes for guessing she said yes, and that’s when they started dreaming of their big day together.
A WEDDING VENUE OF SENTIMENTS, EMOTIONS & LOTS OF FOND MEMORIES
The couple got in touch with Velka Šuran from LF Weddings right after they decided they wanted to get married in Istria. Velka met the couple and tried to get an understanding of how they envision their dream wedding to be. She knew that the church held immense importance for both Naomi and Domagoj and they have very fond memories attached. So she wanted to propose a wedding ceremony venue that respected their sentiments and resonated with them, followed by taking vows at the Church.
For any couple, the venue for the wedding ceremony reflects something that is very personal to them and this is how Pula Castle came into the picture. The Pula Castle is an open-air castle that exudes romance. It not only matches the vibe of the Church that is extremely close to the couple’s heart but also looks like a venue fit for a royal & regal wedding. An old fortress situated on a hill with a unique tree situated right in the middle of the castle yard is the Pula Castle, and the beauty of it is such that leaves no room for guessing why it set the perfect backdrop for this fairytale wedding.
BEGINNING OF A NEW FOREVER: THE INTIMATE WEDDING CEREMONY
May 27th 2023 marked the beginning of Naomi & Domagoj’s new life together when they said ‘I Do’ to each other. It was a beautiful sunny day with the perfect weather, just how everyone imagined it to be. To respect each others’ cultural traditions, the couple had two ceremonies, the traditional wedding at the St Euphemia Church and another African ceremony at the Castle. The decor at both the venues were done keeping in mind the aesthetics and beauty of the Church and the Castle, that complemented the overall theme making it look straight out of a fantasy novel!
The Church in Rovinj was decorated with an alley of gypsophila to the altar along with a grand arch that stood at the entrance accompanied with white vases in golden stands. The interiors of the Castle too were designed and decorated with green, white and golden themes. To accentuate the vibe of the venue, wooden tables were set up with golden candle holders and green garlands as centerpieces. For the sit-down dinner glass saucers with olive green napkins were placed on the table. The decor was minimalist yet was elegant and charming, just how the couple wanted.
Owing to Naomi’s African heritage, the couple also had an African celebration of their union the next day. The guests were dressed in colorful African dresses and blessed the newlyweds with great pomp and show! It was quite a spectacle and it almost looked like a wave of Africa in Istria.
Venka along with her team of talented partners and vendors worked relentlessly to make this day the biggest and most memorable day in the life of Naomi and Domagoj, and they were indeed successful in doing so. The most rewarding experience for a wedding planner is when their clients are happy and their eyes are glistening with joy, and that’s exactly what happened with Naomi & Domagoj. In the words of the couple, “we can confidently say that going back in time there is nothing we would change. People say that your wedding never goes as planned and there will always be something that goes wrong. But for us everything worked perfectly and even if something went wrong our wedding team made sure that it was fixed before we could tell something was going on. We can’t express how grateful we are to have these memories to look back to forever”.
