Well known for her highly developed ability to think outside of the box and adding unique touches to each event she chooses to undertake, we spoke to Ghada, an illustrious Advisory Board Member for the Destination Wedding Planners Congress 2019 about the grandiose celebrations planned by her company and the sheer commitment she brings to the table within the luxury wedding world.
Who was/is your inspiration for setting foot in the wedding industry?
There are three artists that mostly inspired me to set foot within the wedding industry; Martha Stuart, Daniel Ost and Renny Reynolds. However, my biggest support was my mother who told me to follow my heart and passion, which lead me to realize my true calling and follow my dreams.
Who do you think from the new set of planners in recent times will make it big in the industry and why?
There are so many new planners emerging every year that makes it tough to pin point a specific person. That being said, the competition is heating up and it is definitely getting more interesting. Some individuals are very intelligent, witty, extremely organized, and have a firm vision of the industry. While others are replicating what they have previously seen and following the latest trends.
What do you do differently from other wedding planners?
I am a person who loves to think outside the box. To me big is beautiful, I am daring, I love crazy and challenging concepts, as well as impressive designs. Having said that, everything has to always be refined. I am inspired by my surroundings and all the new, happening trends but have my own unique way of creating and fine-tuning things. I enjoy the spirit of being different, so I definitely tend not to follow things aimlessly. I care for my client’s reputation and satisfaction. Each wedding is meticulously personalized and unique. On the big day, I am extremely attentive to details and the overall outlook, making sure to have planned for the most unexpected events!
What are some of the latest trends in the wedding business that you follow?
We tend to be trendsetters and not followers. It is about the happiness of the bride and groom. They can create the trend, since each wedding is different and special in its own way.
How easy or difficult is it to keep up with changing trends in this dynamic industry?
Every year there are new trends, but lately we have not identified major changes. My experience through the years has helped me in keeping up with the changing trends whilst exceeding people’s expectations. We embrace challenges and try to add our own touch to all the latest trends, which our guests love!
What are some of the benefits and challenges of hosting a destination wedding?
Some of the benefits of hosting a destination wedding would include; the opportunity of meeting new suppliers and getting exposed to their vision, products and services along with adding several new wedding destinations to your portfolio. On the other hand, language and communication barriers can make things a little difficult during the organization phase.
Which was the first destination wedding you planned? What were the hardships you faced? How did you overcome them?
The first destination wedding we ever planned was in Egypt. Back then, there was nothing called a wedding organizer and there were hardly any experienced wedding suppliers in the industry. We created the need within the niche market. Initially, people didn’t understand why they needed an organizer because they were not expecting the outcome of the grand, large scale weddings that we ended up delivering with absolute elegance.
How important are vendors when it comes to executing a wedding? Do you work with a specific set of suppliers or do you source local suppliers, if so how do you find them? Through research, recommendations or some other way?
Vendors are definitely crucial to the success of an event. However throughout our many years of extensive experience within the industry, we have developed a vast network of suppliers, hedging our risk against any default on their part.
What is the most unique destination wedding that you have planned?
I believe that each destination serves as a unique backdrop for our luxurious weddings and events because each time we have an exceptional set up, with a diverse set of guests. Thus, creating a brand new and challenging experience for us every time we venture on a journey to a different destination.
What do you think of the Middle East as an emerging destination for weddings?
The Middle East is definitely the right place to be! It is in our culture to celebrate weddings in a more grandiose fashion. Personally, Lebanon remains my favorite location when it comes to venues, flexibility of staff and offering the best value for money.
Having been an integral part of the DWP Congress over the years, how do you feel being associated with DWP 2019 which is going to take place in Dubai this year?
It has always been an honor for me to take part in the DWP Congress over the years. I am really excited to be there once again and definitely look forward to it!
