Tapping Into The Mindset Of Brazilian Couples

Brazil is known for its color, passion, and, of course, its extravagant weddings. A wedding in Brazil is always a fun, noisy, and quite a joyful event with songs, laughter, and wild dances, namely Samba. The local population likes to have fun and therefore does not miss such an opportunity, as it is always fun and brings all sorts of positive emotions even to those who know nothing about their culture.

But, with COVID-19, weddings have become rather solitary affairs. We asked Simone Tostes, a Destination Wedding Planner & Founder of Aonde Casar, Brazil to share with us the sentiments of Brazilian couples to understand what has changed and what are the expectation of the Brazilian couples for weddings in 2021.

1. What matters the most to couples in 2021 weddings based on your inquiries?

I believe it is the safety of their family and friends during the period of marriage. Respect for protocols against the Coronavirus in the destination chosen for the wedding will be essential for couples and their guests to feel safe, from the time they leave Brazil until the return of all of them. Elopement, intimate weddings, and outdoor weddings in breathtaking landscapes are some of the biggest trends for 2021 weddings!

2. What is the cultural mindset of the couple and their families when doing a destination wedding?

Couples these days are increasingly willing to leave aside the traditional ceremonies and celebrate their wedding in different ways. I believe that it is the search for truly unique experiences, with family and friends that really matter in the lives of these couples and the decor will be mainly focused on creating new and personalized designs.

3. What is Brazil doing to attract destination weddings in 2021?

I believe that worldwide our sector and the local economy will only truly resume if the majority of the population is immunized against COVID-19, so we have to mass vaccinate our population so that we can safely celebrate our marriages again. Brazil is beautiful! It has many beaches, mountains, and unparalleled natural beauty, but only with respect to the rules and mass vaccination being carried out will we again attract couples to our wonderful Brazilian wedding destinations.

4. One thing to say ‘No’ to 2021 weddings.

Disrespecting the rules against Coronavirus – definitely say ‘no’ to that! Social distancing, sanitizing, and wearing masks is a must and that is something both the couple and the planner should abide by no matter what kind of wedding they are planning.

5. As a planner, what message you’d like to give to couples who are getting married in 2021?

Celebrate life, love, and friendships a lot! The Coronavirus pandemic has shown us that health, love, and hope are what matter most right now. Prioritize in your wedding only those guests who really matter.
