Runway Report: Ralph & Russo S/S18 Haute Couture

Did we get a glimpse of what Meghan Markle will be wearing at her royal nuptials this summer?

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry broke the internet when Kensington Palace released their official engagement portraits, where in two of the three pictures, the bride to be was spotted in a floor-length black dress with a ruffled tulle skirt and a sheer bodice embroidered with gold leaf, created by Ralph & Russo. While speculation is still abuzz of the duo commissioned to design the royal bride’s outfit, designers Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo added fuel to the fire by designing a collection, fit for a princess.

The Paris Haute Couture runway saw a mix of frothy mint organza, sugary pink silk gazar and ice blue Chantilly lace, and bombshell gowns in black velvet and metallic satin. Signature sleeves unless made from fine-spun silk fringing and coats decorated with ostrich feathers or sheer tulle added the rich opulence it deserves. The collection largely looks to the east for inspiration, evident in the embroider techniques, cluster of pearls and unique silhouettes. Known for their larger than life fantasies, the finale bridal gown presented by fashion influencer Camilla Coelho, was a 12ft wide across number with a train and veil that stretched back easily twice as far. The draped bodice and skirt were embroidered with 3D Swarovski jeweled leaves, pearlescent micro-beads and silk floss flowers which reflected at every movement.
