At the 2018 Golden Globes, many remarkable moments took place that remain etched in our minds. The star studded event was served with glamorous all-black couture gowns and even more striking and bold beauty looks. But the moment 13 year old Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown hit the red carpet, we knew we had a winner! At first glance, we noticed Millie’s chic silk Calvin Klein dress paired perfectly with a sleek topknot, but it wasn’t until she turned around that we saw how truly fierce the young star is. Styled by Blake Erik, Brown rocked a sleek top knot that instantly took things up a notch with three braids climbing up the back of her head. Millie’s bold top knot is an ideal inspiration for those looking to make a statement.
We talk to Angelina Stengler, Senior Stylist at Pastels Salon in Dubai, to help us recreate the dramatic bun. Follow her lead as explained below…
- Part the hair from ear to the ear
- Separate the upper part with a clip
- Split the lower part into 3 equal part . Then braid each one from the bottom upwards (This is called a Dutch braid), using Redken Braid aid cream.
- Tie all 3 braids with a rubber band
- Brush the upper hair sleekly to the back and tie it into one ponytail that also includes the braids. Use a little bit of wax or hairspray to hold the hair in place, keeping it neat and sleek-looking.
- Create a little bun from the pony tail and use some bobby pins to fix the hair into place.
P.S It’s worth noting that this style is best suited to medium to long straight hair of medium thickness. If you have very long hair that is curly or frizzy, you would be better choosing another style.
