Lorene & Kenny’s Dream Wedding in South of France

Lorene and Kenny’picture perfect destination wedding took place in the gardens of the Bastide de Gordes, privatised for the weekend. The cocktails receptions offered incredible views over the hills of Gordes and the Luberon, one of the most magical views in Provence, especially at sunset.

With families from Hong Kong, France and London, and friends from all over, L&K’s wedding was a very international one. The intimate setting of the venue was perfect to keep everyone together and make sure that all groups had the opportunity to mix, while enjoying the amazing views over the landscapes of Provence. The bride wore a fabulous Monique Lhuillier dress for the ceremony and reception, then changed into a more fluid Camille Marguet dress for the dancing party. The groom chose Dolce&Gabbana for his attire, from suit to shoes.

The ceremony was set by the beautiful long pool at the Bastide de Gordes where an arch was specially designed for the space, to justify the views over the water and the landscape behind. The flower girl and page boy were carrying provencal wicker baskets filled with greenery for a fresh, simple style. After ceremony guests were served champagne and canapés in the gardens, and entertained by a live band playing a mix of oldies and French songs. The dinner was set on one of the terraces of the venue, underneath large mulberry trees. Candles were hanging from the tree under which the bride and groom were sat. Table names were written in calligraphy on specially cut local Gordes stones.

Award-winning fine art wedding photographer Sylvie Gil talks to us about the unique couple. She tells us that, “Lorene and Kenny are architect and interior designers so materials are important to them. Lorene wanted to use some material from Provence in some of the décor elements of the wedding, so we used stone from Gordes for the table names, which we had calligraphy on. For the ceremony arch, we used a hothouse arch, as there are many of these in the area and they provide an interesting width compared to traditional garden arches, which worked great with the space.” While discussing the most memorable part of the wedding weekend, Sylvie tells us that, ” The ceremony was a very peaceful moment, punctuated by readings from close family members and an olive tree ceremony, the olive tree symbolizing wisdom & peace, hope, light, fertility, health & wealth in Provence. The wedding venue is hung on a cliff and on the other side of that is a small popular view point. During ceremony we could see a family of locals watching the event from afar and we heard them clap when the bride and groom kissed! After dinner the party moved indoors for the dancing party. All the guests gathered each side of the hallway leading to the ballroom with large sparklers for the couple to walk through. The effect was magical.”
