A Serendipitous Meeting In 2019, Julie, a charming stewardess from Germany, and Alex, a osteopath from Russia, crossed paths on an intercontinental flight from Rio de Janeiro. Fate intervened, and their connection blossomed through messages and occasional rendezvous during Alex’s business trips. However, their love faced an unexpected hurdle when the COVID-19 pandemic led to a six-month separation. Determined not to let distance keep them apart, Alex organized a date in Turkey, the only destination accessible to both Russia and Germany at the time. It was there that he proposed, and Julie happily said “YES!” marking the beginning of their journey towards forever.
After officially tying the knot in Cyprus in 2020, Julie and Alex set their sights on planning a grand wedding in Moscow for 2021. However, their adventurous spirits led them to change their plans and opt for a destination wedding in the picturesque town of Kotor, Montenegro. The 3rd and 4th of September 2022 were marked as the dates for their dream celebration, where their love would be celebrated in the stunning landscapes of Montenegro, an enchanting and sought-after destination for unforgettable wedding celebrations.
As the sun set on the eve of their big day, Julie and Alex found themselves in separate quarters. Julie, accompanied by her bridesmaids and both mothers, stayed at the charming Forza Terra Hotel, while Alex and his friends and fathers found comfort in the nearby HUMA hotel. The morning of the wedding brought different experiences for the couple and their entourage – the boys relaxed by the pool, while the girls indulged in champagne and a beautifully served breakfast in the hotel’s inner yard.
A wedding with religious differences proved to be a challenge, as Julie is Catholic, and Alex is Orthodox. Permission was sought from the Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow, and once their religious marriage was blessed, a date was secured at a church in the old town of Kotor. The wedding ceremony was a sight to behold, with Julie gracefully escorted down the aisle by her father and Alex shedding tears of joy as he lifted her veil. Bells rang, and rice showered upon the newlyweds, creating a blissful atmosphere of love and celebration.
With its breathtaking beauty reminiscent of Como Lake, Boko Kotor Bay set the stage for a remarkable yachting experience. After a leisurely stroll through the old town, Julie and Alex embarked on a luxury vintage yacht, sailing across the azure and clear water surface. Their arrival at the wedding reception on the pier was met with cheers and warm embraces from their guests, marking the continuation of the festivities.
Banquet halls and closed spaces were set aside as the bride’s only wish of an open-air wedding became a reality. A stone terrace by the bay provided an idyllic setting for the dinner reception, with a verdant hedge on one side and the vast sea on the other. Towering palm trees shielded the guests from the sun, and the magic of Varvara Peregudova’s planning ensured that rain posed no threat to the celebration.
Julie and Alex’s destination wedding in Montenegro stands as a testament to love’s triumph over obstacles and the magic that unfolds when dreams become reality. From a chance encounter on a flight to a magnificent celebration by the bay, their love story serves as an inspiration for couples seeking a unique and unforgettable wedding experience.
