Wedding photography is different from other types of photography because you only have one chance to get the images right. Weddings can last from one to five days or more, however, each ceremony or event is a unique occasion. That means there’s very little room for error on the part of the photographer. You have to make sure that you’re ready to capture that perfect moment. So read on below to get the tips suggested by Luke to achieve the best wedding photography possible!

Touring The Venue

Always ask your photographer to meet you at the chosen venue, so that he/she can guide you in finding the best locations and alternative backup options. Allowing the photographer to liaise with the venue’s management ahead of time is very important, to make sure there are no surprises on the day, and everything photography-related runs smoothly. In addition, the photographer needs to asses the lighting and the position of the sun in relation to the venue, horizon, and time of day for that specific location.

Communicate Ahead of Time

Communication is key! Communicate with your photographer ahead of time, exactly what you want, the style, natural reportage or carefully posed. The look, light and whimsical, warm and romantic or dramatic and powerful. Ask any questions, If the photographer can’t answer the questions then they shouldn’t be doing the job! Luke also suggests taking time into consideration as it is the most important factor. If you want perfect wedding photos you need to take time and not rush the process, so factor this into your itinerary.

Trust Them

Trust is the key ingredient to any relationship and this is true for the relationship you have with your wedding photographer. Trust your photographer, you have booked them for their style so allow them creative freedom and time! Allow them to work with other vendors on the day to create the best results possible. A good example would be, allowing the photographer to work with the MC to assist with group photos.

Engage and Enjoy

Another important factor is willingness, be willing to engage with your photographer on the day, remember they are a part of your wedding team, and they only want to do the best for you! And in the end, don’t forget that it is your wedding day. Relax and enjoy yourself, it will show in the photos! A good photographer will be able to put you at ease in front of the camera.

On asked about his inspiration behind creating his artwork, he says “Rather than inspiration, my drive and focus with weddings is making sure that every couple I work with comes away feeling confident and comfortable not only with their wedding photos but with their choices. I get a real buzz from working closely with couples to achieve this.”

Luke, who has a Master of Arts in Documentary Photography has a broad range of experience in photographic industries, such as weddings, documentary, commercial advertising, corporate branding, and celebrity. His professionalism and ability to work with clients as their trusted advisor are his forte.

He further adds “As a photographer who works across a broad spectrum, and has a huge amount of experience in the industry; the reason I love photographing weddings is that they are always a joy to cover. As a visual storyteller, it is a privilege to tell the story of a truly unique moment in a couple’s life. For me on a personal level, my obligation to the couple is absolute, on your wedding day, we work around you without exception. Visual storytelling is more of a lifestyle choice and as such, I don’t tend to clock watch, If I have to stay later to get that last shot I will. If you decide we are the right choice for you, we guarantee that we will always be available for consultations and to help in any way we can.

Life is about making memories with your loved ones, and remembering these through photographs is one of the best ways to preserve these important moments.
