As a tribute to the Greek roots of founder Sotirios Bulgari, whose iconic brand was enhanced and elevated by Roman influences, 2017 saw the launch of the Monete secret-watch pendant by Bulgari. The statement piece is a perfect alliance of savoir-faire between Bulgari’s watchmakers and goldsmiths, embodying the best of what the Italian brand offers.
Rome’s Basilica of Maxentius played muse to the artists at Bulgari who constructed the 41mm octagonal-shaped pink gold case encrusted in diamonds and rubies. The cover of the watch features an ancient Greek silver coin with the profile of Alexander the Great, the King of Macedonia and Conqueror of the Persian Empire. Upon lifting the coin, a skeletonized manual-winding gold tourbillon movement is unveiled, featuring the refinement of its mechanism, the manufacture tourbillon caliber BVL 208. Much like the man on the coin, the watch is a game changer.
