Setting Priorities For Your Wedding Planning

Venue, flowers, cake, photographer, cocktails, wedding dress, decor, guests…and the list goes on. Sure planning a wedding is a never-ending list and we know that there’s a lot to take care of, but prioritizing is crucial to make sure the budget allocated goes into the right aspects that matter the most to both of you.

To figure out your own priorities, we’ve found that the most helpful thing to do is to sit down with your fiancé in front of a list of possible wedding expenses. After crossing off anything that you know isn’t applicable to your unique situation, take turns circling the five things that matter most to each of you about your wedding.

Ask yourself, what are the top five things that make an impact on how you and your guests will experience the event that is most important to you? This is a personal choice between you and your partner. For some, entertainment can be the biggest priority for their guests while for others, venue selection takes precedence. Have an honest conversation and strike a mutual chord on what matters most to you as a couple. Having these honest conversations won’t always be easy, because you may be on completely different pages about what’s important – but it’s so much better to know now and get on the same ‘page’ together.

Set A Timeline

Although you have decided your priorities, at times, it’s natural to deviate away from them and focus on the task at hand. Hence to avoid such situations, as soon as decide what are your topmost concerns, set a timeline to finish it. For instance, if getting a planner is on your list, then you might want to get it in 1-2 weeks’ time. This way, you know what to complete and also when.
