“Without question, the wedding trends for 2021 are going to be influenced by the Coronavirus lockdown of 2020. What is emerging from these particular trends are those who feel the need to scale back and focus on tight-knit groups who are nearest and dearest, and those whose passion to celebrate with everyone they care about even if that means a big guest list,” tells Shamay.

Flowers By Shamay is a full floral service company. From design to rentals to consultations and set up, her experience has taken her a long way in creating breathtaking floral designs. across the US and worldwide. Micro Weddings

These weddings are less than 20 guests and Shamay is seeing more of these intimate ceremonies in 2021. Lockdown has been a period of reflection for many about what’s truly important, and for some couples, it has crystallized exactly who they want by their side on their special day. The clients often recite-  “We want the flowers to set the tone and stage for our special day.” Couples simply want just a few family and friends they cherish. A positive thing she is finding is that the clients’ budgets haven’t changed. Couples want to relish on their guests and create an unforgettable experience. Another trend, or topic, coming up is the return to traditions. Experts across the wedding industry are also predicting traditions to be a defining feature of 2021 weddings, from timeless dresses to nostalgic fragrances and traditional speeches.

Macro Weddings

On the flip side, it is time to celebrate! The world has been cooped up for a year. Travel has been very limited and many restrictions have been in place. As the restrictions start to ease, some couples want to celebrate. What does the Macro Wedding size mean? Depending on the region of the world in focus, and their cultural background, the guest count varies. The buzz is that the decor budget will increase to create safe distance spaces for people to gather and have a great time. Flowers By Shamay’s team has been busy creating added buffers for social distancing with added plants, furniture, and over the top table decor and flowers.

Gratitude Based Themes

After a year like 2020, weddings will have a deeper meaning and reflect on their gratitude for good health and safety, to honor the opportunity of finally being able to celebrate with loved ones. Small personalized gifts that incorporate beautiful florals showing gratitude will be on the must-have list for all their guests and vendors.

A Modern Twist

Flowers By Shamay are known for their out-of-the-box and innovative ideas. Copying that same look that has been posted a million times on Pinterest is now fading. Introducing Modern weddings. Couples are increasingly looking outside the wedding industry for suppliers who can fit the bill. Couples and planners will be looking at other industries such as interiors and fashion designers to help create their vision. Entertainment will fall into this category also. Flowers By Shamay like to collectively work with industry leaders to pull off these looks.

Hollywood Glam

This theme could go from retro elegance (small scale) to a full out powerhouse party. Many couples did work through this pandemic. After a year of not celebrating, they may have a budget to spend. Shamay thinks she’ll see a return to full-on Hollywood glamour. Even if you can’t go all out with tall floral aisle markers and fancy backdrops, you can transform almost any space with a simple combination of rose petals and candles leading to the altar. Tighter arrangements and symmetrical shapes will help you achieve a more formal look compared to a loosely-arranged bouquet with abundant greenery. Classic red roses, calla lilies, and orchids are just some of our favorite blooms for a Hollywood glam wedding.

Boho Chic & ’70s Vibe

70’s Theme, Boho Chic or Dessert Darlings? Flowers By Shamay have been busy filling up inspiration boards with their clients with this theme. Wedding décor will be sustainable, raw, natural, locally sourced, and traditional. There is a strong sway towards ’70s materials and aesthetic – dried flowers and greens, painted foliages, macramé, crochet, rattan, block colors, wooden beading, and textured linens. The ladies and designers of Pinterest have blown up this theme to major proportions. Shamay loves to educate her couples about their photos.

Locally sourced

Couples and Flowers By Shamay understand the economic impact in their areas. Couples want to support the ‘Buy Local’ trend. Local suppliers, from caterers to photographers, will get more bookings as couples choose to invest in the economy in their backyard or local area. If you are in a country where it is hard to get in or get the products through customs, locally sourced products will also serve as an economic benefit to your local vendors.

Pastel Shades

“While there will always be a place in my heart for the white wedding, the past couple of years, the fashion trends have been bringing these colors back. It has now spilled over into the wedding industry. (wait, did it really ever leave?) These colors are reminiscent of times of yore: they do create romantic wedding vibes.” Shares Shamay. They are seeing more and more dresses and flowers in the pastel tones.

She further adds, “Another color that’s trending is deep blue velvets in rich shades and tones. With the Pantone color of the year set to be classic blue, we are sure we will also see plenty of floral arrangements inspired by this.”

Cascading Bouquets

This bouquet is coming back! Flowers By Shamay are excited to be creating such show stoppers. Of course, they feel flowers are the essential ingredient to any successful event so this style of bouquet can make quite a statement against her clients’ dresses. The skirts of the dresses are almost like having a canvas to create against. Lots of wiring techniques are required to create a solid long-lasting bouquet that will be put through some rigorous photo ops.
