A Fun-Filled Wedding In Peru Where The Bride Designed Her Own Dress

“True love knows no distance, it has the right timing and becomes stronger.”

Carmen and Jac met at a friend’s wedding in Miami in 2018. They first had the chance to chat with each other during a Thanksgiving dinner some days before the wedding. According to Carmen, she felt a spark as soon as she saw Jac.

Although being in different cities, their love story flourished as they managed to meet each other regularly. One fine day, Jac finally proposed and they began planning their dream day.

Their relationship faced difficulties during the pandemic due to the restrictions and border closures, they couldn´t see each other for almost nine months. However, they found ways to stay connected and pushed each other forward. It didn´t seem like a big deal to only communicate via Facetime three or four times a day and they realized they were on the same page and their love was growing stronger with each passing day. Jac moved to Miami to be closer so that Carmen could have the chance to visit him and eventually moved there too. They decided to get married in Peru and chose their wedding date as 12th March 2022.

The wedding was going to take place in Lima, the capital of Peru and most of the groom’s friends and family were coming to celebrate their love. This destination wedding was a totally new experience and there were higher expectations about the celebration. It was the best opportunity to get reunited after almost two years of pandemic.

The religious ceremony was held in Virgen de Fatima church in Miraflores. It was a bilingual wedding ceremony to ensure that all the guests felt included on the big day.

The planning was done in 8 months’ time by a renowned wedding planner from Peru- Jossy Quezada.

“We had zoom meetings in order to get their vision of the event and find the right vendors to make it happen. Sometimes distance unites two hearts in love and this is what I´ve noticed in Carmen & Jac. Their pure love just made their bond strong.” Says Jossy.

One of the best things about any wedding is the food. There were more than forty foreign guests that came to Peru to witness the event. Instead of presenting a cheese table, we presented a stunning Peruvian table, a definite showstopper with different mixtures of Peruvian appetizers with flavors that everyone would enjoy.

The food catered was in the form of a buffet with a fusion of Peruvian and international themes so that all the guests had the chance to try the variety of exotic and traditional dishes.

In order to surprise the guests, the wedding favors were personalized mini pisco (Peruvian alcoholic drink) bottles with the couple´s caricature. There was also a gorgeous wedding cake on the candy table which was cut by the couple and all the guests could taste it as well.

The Hacienda Bazo Velarde was the perfect place for hosting their wedding reception. It was a place that embraced natural beauty and had a romantic vibe. The wedding reception inspiration was greenery, the bride had in mind a Tuscan countryside theme. The hacienda is extremely beautiful and welcoming itself, so you won’t need many decors, just using the beauty of the venue to highlight it.

The tent design and decoration were an outdoor adding greenery along the sides of the tent to create an ethereal environment— creating a focal point incorporating chandeliers. All the furniture was composed of wooden tables and chairs and floral centerpieces in the wedding palette color.

The groom’s attire reflected his style and the features of the celebration. He looked completely charming. His suit was made with super 150 Italian fabric and the uniqueness of the design was that the fabric changed its color -green in the sun and blue in the shadow. It had a brocade silk vest in silver color and with a plants design to give a different touch.

The bridesmaid’s dresses were inspired by the wedding theme and the Hacienda flowers. All the dresses had the same embroidered floral tulle with colors such as magenta, orange, pink and green leaves. It was a personalized design for each one considering their personality and authenticity.

The gorgeous bride designed her own wedding dress. The first dress was made to create a romantic and sophisticated look, a design that embodies elegance, glamour and romance all at the same time.

It was a princess-cut wedding dress with an assortment of fabrics like organza and tulle to give the dress a dreamy, ethereal look. It had branches of applique embroidered tulle to combine with the wedding theme. The detachable tail and 3d heart-shaped petal bodice gave ethereal touches

She envisioned her looking like Grace Kelly and her headpiece was a unique embroidery tiara, which had been worn by her mother–in–law in her wedding back in 1989.

Her second dress was totally different from the first one. It was a short dress in nude color with lace and ostrich feathers applique. It also had strass and Swarovski crystals to embellish the dress. Everybody loved it because the bride appeared with her second look to start with the hora loca show and she looked absolutely stunning.

The bridal bouquet had to be the perfect match for the bridal look, it was made of white orchids a symbol of faith, elegance and beauty. All white bouquets never go out of style and were the best choice for a romantic garden wedding. The bridesmaids had white floral mixture bouquets that complete their looks.

All the foreign guests were looking forward to the wedding reception. Every culture has something, but the Latinos know how to party and this party was not the exception. They didn’t have Latin blood but they embraced the party vibe and enjoyed the Hora Loca “crazy hour”, a popular tradition at our wedding parties. The groom was part of the show theme and appeared on the dance floor dressed like Slash. The hora loca was definitely the wow factor of the wedding.
