This Is What We Will See In 2022 Weddings As Designers Showcase Their New Collection In New York Bridal Fashion Week

With more weddings now taking place since the start of the pandemic, designers were especially excited to debut their latest bridal collections at New York Bridal Fashion Week, held Oct. 6 to 8. The event included some in-person presentations, though most of their 2022 fall and spring ensembles were viewed virtually. The 2021 bridal trends reflect the times we are living in. Here are the latest wedding dress trends from the virtual and in-person bridal runway.

Corsets

Much like the rest of us, the bridal world has also paid attention to Bridgerton. Regency-inspired corsets are now making their way down the aisle in the form of gowns with corset bodices and dresses with exposed boning. Feminine and enchanting, accentuating all the right spots? The corset wedding gown is the way to go for 2022 weddings.

Short Comfortable Dresses

With the rise in micro weddings and elopements post-pandemic, we will see short dresses that are ultra opulent, comfortable and partywear all at the same time. A shift towards dresses that can be worn in an after-party is on a rise as brides like to be more at the moment enjoying the day rather than having 3 different dresses to change.

Another trend this season is the fluttery sleeve of different lengths, which adds movement and gracefulness to the dress. Claire Pettibone’s high-neck, Guipure lace gown featured short, butterfly-like sleeves, while Reem Acra met somewhere in the middle with a lace A-line gown featuring a cape-like bodice that creates flowy, three-quarter sleeves.

Tulle

Wedding postponements and cancellations sparked many brides’ desire to do it up big when the time came for them to celebrate, regardless of the size of their wedding. And that meant a wedding dress that made a bold statement. Designers presented gowns with lots of texture and personality, such as tulle gowns with yards and yards of exaggerated ruffles, as seen in collections by Amsale and Kaviar Gauche.

Cut-Outs

The modern-day wedding fashion is getting sexier and sassier with dramatic side-cut accents. Although they may sound daring, cut-outs and crop tops have trended at Bridal Fashion Week for two seasons running. Bridal brands and designers are embracing shows of skin, with everything from midriff-baring numbers to back slits appearing on the runways.
