Luxury weddings are evolving, and so is the idea of what makes a celebration truly unforgettable. As the Closing Cocktail Event Partner for the upcoming 17th edition of DWP Congress, Absolute Events, led by Kaival Patel, brings its own perspective to this evolving world of luxury celebrations.
At the helm of this conversation, he shares his thoughts on creating weddings that feel personal, effortless, and memorable, while looking at where the industry is headed next.
Here’s what Kaival has to say about the changing face of luxury weddings and the experiences shaping their future.
Personal by Design, Seamless by Execution

First and foremost, the celebration has to feel extremely personal and seamless. For us, it is about understanding the couple, their personalities, their story, and the kind of experience their guests would value.
Every single detail matters, right down to the smallest touchpoint. Our team is trained to think a step ahead, anticipate what might be needed, and ensure that everything is in place before it is even noticed. That attention to detail and anticipation is what allows us to create celebrations that feel effortless to the couple and their guests.
Ultimately, when everything comes together beautifully and naturally, and the celebration feels like it could belong to no one but that particular couple, that is what makes it truly distinctive and memorable.
The New Luxury Is Personal

The biggest shift I have seen is that couples today are getting married for themselves, rather than for society or simply to impress their guests. They want their wedding to reflect who they are, their personalities, their journey, and what is meaningful to them as a couple.
There was a time when parents were largely the decision-makers. Today, couples are deeply involved in every stage of the planning process, from the larger creative vision to the smallest details. They have a very clear sense of what they want and are looking for experiences that feel personal and relevant to them.
The celebrations are still grand, of course, but the definition of luxury has evolved. It is no longer about quantity or simply having more. It is about quality, thoughtfulness, exclusivity, and the experience. Couples are willing to invest in fewer, more meaningful elements that make their celebration feel truly their own.
When Every Detail Has a Part to Play

We think a beautiful wedding can be intimate and deeply personal to the couple, but an exceptional wedding is one that becomes the talk of the town while still feeling completely true to them and touching every guest’s heart.
It is about finding that balance between creating something distinctive and memorable, while ensuring that it never loses its personal connection. The wedding should have a strong identity, something that guests experience and remember long after the celebrations are over.
For us, what truly makes a wedding exceptional is how every element comes together. The décor should complement the venue, the food should complement the theme of the event, the entertainment should add to the experience, and every detail should feel thoughtfully curated and completely in sync.
But beyond what guests see, it is the service that truly elevates the experience. From the moment a guest enters the venue and is greeted, to the person serving their drink, the chef preparing their meal, and the event team assisting them throughout the celebration, every interaction matters.
It is also about being attentive enough to read a guest’s needs without them having to ask. When a team can anticipate what will make someone more comfortable, happier, or more at ease, that is when hospitality becomes truly exceptional.
Ultimately, an exceptional wedding is not just about how beautiful it looks. It is about how beautifully every element works together and, most importantly, how it makes every guest feel.
More Than a Wedding, It’s a Getaway

Destination weddings today are increasingly becoming a getaway with your closest loved ones, where everyone comes together to celebrate one of the biggest milestones of your life. It is almost like a mini celebratory vacation and a reunion with family and friends who may be spread across the globe, rather than simply a series of wedding functions.
Couples think beyond the wedding day and create an experience throughout the stay. Each day has its own mood, energy, and purpose, from relaxed welcome experiences and intimate gatherings to the larger celebrations.

What makes it special is the opportunity to spend real, unhurried time with family and friends. At the heart of it, the idea is to eat, drink, sing, dance, and simply have a great time together.
Pre- and post-wedding celebrations are also becoming an important part of the experience, giving couples more opportunities to create meaningful memories with their loved ones.
The wedding, therefore, becomes less about just the ceremonies and more about creating a complete experience around the destination, the people, and the celebration.
The Soul of an Indian Wedding

What makes an Indian wedding so compelling is the richness of our culture, heritage, and traditions. Every ritual has meaning and a story behind it, which gives the celebrations a depth unique to India.
But beyond the rituals, it is the people and the energy that truly make an Indian wedding special. There is a sense of warmth, togetherness, and celebration that is difficult to replicate anywhere else in the world.
An Indian wedding is also not merely a day of ceremonies. It is a celebration that can unfold over several days, sometimes even weeks, with different traditions, gatherings, and experiences bringing families and loved ones together. There is a beautiful sense of abundance, emotion, and togetherness to it.
I think that combination of history, culture, colour, hospitality, emotion, and sheer energy is what makes the Indian wedding experience so memorable for a global audience. Food, dance forms, entertainment, and the large number of extended family and friends coming together under one roof, full of heart and happiness.
The Indian Wedding Playbook Goes Global

We see a tremendous opportunity for Indian wedding professionals to take the essence of what we do so well in India to the global stage. We have a deep understanding of large-scale celebrations, hospitality, intricate rituals, multi-day festivities, and, most importantly, bringing people together.
International couples are increasingly looking for celebrations that feel immersive and meaningful, and Indian wedding professionals have a natural understanding of creating that sense of occasion and experience.
I also think there is an opportunity to showcase Indian creativity and craftsmanship internationally, while adapting it beautifully to different cultures and destinations. It is not about recreating an Indian wedding outside India, but bringing our approach to storytelling, hospitality, design, and celebration into a global context.
For me, the opportunity is to take the expertise we have built in India and create celebrations around the world that carry that same warmth, scale, and attention to detail, while still feeling authentic to the couple and the destination.
When international couples look at India as a wedding destination, they often need complete or partial support from a local planner. This creates a great opportunity for Indian planners to cater to international weddings, either directly or through partner agencies overseas.

The Biggest Trend Is Not Following Trends

I am particularly excited about working with the upcoming generation of brides and grooms because they have a very different approach to celebrations. They are more involved, more individualistic, and very clear about wanting their wedding to reflect who they are as a couple.
I am also excited about the move towards more intimate celebrations that have a meaningful story and a sense of purpose behind them. It is less about the number of people or the scale of the celebration, and more about creating something that feels relevant and memorable to those experiencing it.

I see weddings becoming increasingly experiential, personal, and immersive, with couples looking at every touchpoint as an opportunity to tell their story. And perhaps the biggest trend I see is not following trends at all. Couples today want to create something original, something that feels like their own, rather than simply replicating what is popular. In a way, the real luxury is to be the OG.
I think that is where the future of luxury weddings lies: celebrations that are beautifully produced, but also have depth, meaning, and a strong sense of individuality.
DWP Congress: More Than a Global Networking Platform
For Absolute Events, being part of the DWP Congress community means being connected to a global network of wedding professionals, decision-makers, and industry leaders who are shaping the future of the wedding industry.
What makes DWP particularly valuable is that it brings the global wedding ecosystem together under one roof. It gives us an opportunity to exchange ideas, understand what is happening across different markets, discover new destinations and partners, and build relationships that can grow well beyond the congress itself.
For us, it is also an opportunity to showcase India and the incredible depth of talent, creativity, hospitality, and experiences that our country has to offer. Platforms like DWP are important because the wedding industry is becoming increasingly global, and meaningful collaborations between professionals across markets are what help take the industry forward.
Ultimately, it is not just about networking for a few days. It is about being part of a community, learning from each other, creating opportunities together, and staying connected to where the global wedding industry is headed.
The Power of a Global Wedding Community

I am looking forward to the conversations, the collaborations, and, most importantly, reconnecting with friends and colleagues from across the global wedding industry.
I am also really excited about showcasing to my friends and the international wedding community the India that I love. India has so much to offer beyond its beautiful venues, from its culture and heritage to its food, hospitality, craftsmanship, and incredible energy.
For me, DWP Congress Udaipur is an opportunity to celebrate India and share a little bit of what makes our country so special with the global wedding community.
Every Wedding Writes Its Own Rules

The way we approach weddings has evolved tremendously since we started, and every client and every project has taught us something along the way. The industry itself has changed, and so have the expectations and approach of our clients.
But one lesson that has remained constant is that every project is different and every client brings a different perspective. You cannot approach every wedding with the same formula.
What has to remain the same, however, is the energy, dedication, and commitment we bring to every event. Whether it is an intimate celebration or a large-scale luxury wedding, every client deserves the same level of passion and attention. I think that consistency is what has fundamentally shaped the way we work today.
Redefining What Luxury Really Means

I think the next chapter of luxury weddings will be about redefining what luxury really means. It will move beyond what is visible and become much more about what is felt.
The grandeur will still be there, but I think couples will increasingly look for exceptional hospitality, privacy, comfort, thoughtful experiences, and impeccable execution. We may see smaller guest lists, but with a much deeper investment in the experience of every guest.
I also see the destination becoming an integral part of the wedding story. Rather than simply bringing a wedding to a beautiful destination, the destination itself will influence the food, design, entertainment, and experiences created around the celebration.
For me, the future of luxury weddings is not necessarily about doing more. It is about doing things with greater thought, meaning, and purpose, and creating an experience that stays with people long after they have left.
Fairmont Udaipur Palace, Where Scale Meets Grandeur
Fairmont Udaipur Palace is an exceptional property for a royal Indian wedding because it brings together scale, grandeur, and a truly distinctive experience.
It is a large property with multiple venues, which gives us the flexibility to create different experiences across the wedding celebrations while still keeping the entire event cohesive. The palatial architecture and luxurious yet elegant character of the property naturally lend themselves to the grandeur of an Indian wedding.
What I particularly appreciate is the hospitality. The team is extremely experienced and well-equipped to host large-scale Indian weddings, where the expectations around service, guest experience, and attention to detail are very high.
For me, it is the combination of the palatial setting, the variety of venues, the scale of the property, and the quality of hospitality that makes Fairmont Udaipur Palace such a strong choice for a royal Indian wedding.

And as the industry comes together at the 17th edition of DWP Congress in Udaipur, there could not be a better time to ask what the next chapter of luxury weddings will look like.
