Thanos Ziozias is an exceptional industrial designer with an unlimited range of projects under his belt. He has experience with all design sectors, from sophisticated furniture and bespoke objects to architectural concepts and state-of-the-art corporate interiors. Thanos’ in-depth knowledge of software and engineering enables him to help shape, form, and combine materials while applying the most innovative techniques.

We asked the two a few questions to understand how they have managed a positive outlook during the pandemic waves and the new trends to look forward to in the new year. Here’s what they had to share –
What has been the toughest challenge you’ve faced as designers and planners during the pandemic?
“The uncertainty, of course, and not being able to schedule anything. We all know how complicated it is to coordinate with so many different people in one event and how important it is to know all the data and details many months in advance. The hardest thing, though, was to manage, in the face of all the overwhelming moments, to hold tight and keep working.”
Your expert advice on how you have overcome these obstacles and prepared yourselves in case of uncertainties. What are some important lessons learned?
“You always have to be strong and flexible and not let fear get the best of you. When necessary, you have to dare to break the rules and create new circumstances that will inspire you to keep going.”
We’ve all adapted to the pandemic and found ways to push through the hard times. The restrictions have forced us to break the limitations of the mind and think outside the box when tackling the situation. This has also allowed us to explore and experiment with new ideas that we perhaps would not have thought of otherwise. And speaking of outside the box, the trend for having open-tent/ outdoor weddings is here to stay! You can still do a lot, from new venues to more personalized elements for the couple and guests. Keeping this positive mindset, Mazi has taken the road less traveled and discovered some truly unique styles.
Being an event expert in your field, what should we look forward to in the new year?
“After the storm, the sun always shines. The worst part is certainly behind us, and now we can’t wait to design and create again, without limits and restrictions. It’s time to make people smile, and we have many powerful and exciting experiences in store for our clients and their guests as well!”
With the new year, we will see new wedding industry trends on the rise, especially the creative ways in which 2022’s Pantone color Very Peri will be incorporated. We might also see a rise in sustainable weddings this year and perhaps more themed parties! Plus, with most of the world double vaxxed, we definitely see the comeback of big weddings, especially with the rise in popularity of weddings in open spaces. And with team Mazi, art-inspired designs are taking weddings to a whole new level!
The top emerging trends, according to you, for events taking place in Greece post-pandemic.
“Those who know us know that we’ve never believed in ephemeral trends. But if we have to share something, it is live experiences through original scenarios and one-of-a-kind settings. Greece lavishly offers us its natural palette and its ideal climate to form the most magnificent canvas.”
Now that we’ve started to up the game in the wedding world again, there is no stopping these experts from continuing to create magic in 2022. Rather than following trends, Mazi’s unique concepts are setting the trends! For instance, the Hellenic and Roman-inspired theater architecture seen above is an actual work of art, a statement project that will inspire future designs in the industry.
