“I taught him how to love again and he showed me how someone can love like no other”– Olivia, the bride.
In the past year, we’ve seen a few celebrities tying the knot and announcing some big news. Sports figure Lou Zevanovic and his wife Olivia were no exception and officially became Mr. and Mrs. on 24th April 2021. The opulent white-themed wedding featured singer Anthony Callea and some grand decor elements for an extravagant celebration. Read on to uncover the details of their magical luxury wedding, exclusively provided by their planner Diane Khoury and her team of experts.
How They Met
Lou Zevanovic is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Penrith Panthers in the 1970-1980s. He met Olivia 13 years ago accidentally, at a work event for the company her mother was working for. It wasn’t until years later that their paths crossed again. This time, Olivia came in with her resume in hand, hoping to land a job at Lou’s company. He immediately hired her as his PA, and as their friendship grew, there was newfound love and respect for each other. He fell in love with her caring and compassionate personality, while Olivia discovered his soft nature behind his tough appearance. “He was a gentle giant with a heart as big as the world” are Olivia’s sweet words about Lou.
The Venue
The wedding was held at The InterContinental Hayman Island Whitsundays, Hayman Island, Australia on Saturday the 24th of April this year. The hotel is the only exclusive one on the island, ideal for a romantic destination wedding. Diane and her team of experts from DK Events managed to pull off an extraordinary wedding, designed and planned over three days.
With welcome packs to greet the guests and a welcome party to kick start celebrations, the couple and all their guests were spoiled with an unforgettable experience. What better way to get the festivities started than a party by the pool with fire dancers and live music?
The Wedding, Decor, and Reception
The unpredictable weather of a tropical island was no challenge for Diane as she and her team were prepared with an equally extravagant and beautiful plan B. The ceremony took place at the Pool Lanai, covered with flawless foliage and high ceilings, enhancing the opulence of the wedding. All 100 wedding guests were accommodated at the $1,500-a-night luxury hotel for free and Anthony Callea sang at the reception as part of live entertainment. Isn’t that wonderful!
The design concept was custom-tailored to the couple’s tastes and executed to perfection without missing a single beat while putting the plan into action. Unique structures, elegant floral arrangements, and personal touches combined with gold accents on an all-white color palette blended beautifully to create an expensive wedding and reception exuding pure class.
“A luxurious wedding boasting classic elegance and romance. All of which enveloped our beautiful couple and their vision for their dream wedding.” Says Diane, who gracefully made it all happen.
Catering for all three events, the hotel provided an exquisite menu tailored to include some of the bride and groom’s favorite items, including a deluxe chocolate room. A dessert dreamland for sure!
Recovery Party
After the grand celebration, guests received word of an ‘Aperol Spritz’ themed recovery party, the orange cocktail being the bride’s favorite drink. Synchronized swimmers, themed cocktails, massages in cabanas, music, and deluxe food stations were a few specialties enjoyed by the guests, giving them a chance to unwind for a while and reenergize.
