What motivates you to be so active within this dynamic wedding world?
The wedding space is the most exciting realm to be in for an individual driven by passion and delightful celebrations. Culturally as well, for us Indians, weddings are a culmination of a lifetime’s dreams and aspirations. It is marked with intense emotion and personal interaction – but the rewards are truly gratifying all the way! The true joy is that at the end of the day, it does not seem like going to work but loving what every day holds in store for us.
Tell us about your overall journey and how you have achieved this milestone?
It has been a great journey, enriching with every step – physically, mentally and emotionally. Starting at the grassroots and working one’s way up is the only true way to master the subtle nuances and let them manifest into the final picture. Collaborations and alliances with like-minded and progressive peers is key. So is teamwork and empowerment, it’s about fostering an open environment with decision-making capabilities at the line level.
Celebrity weddings leave a lasting impression for years to come. What are some of the biggest celebrity weddings that you have designed, what are the hardships you have had to face and how do you execute them so seamlessly?
As a planner, one needs to stick to the ground rules and build on the basics. Planning a celebrity wedding is as simple, yet as complex as any other. The difference lies in the perception and expectation levels fueled by the image that the celebrity may enjoy and the enhanced levels of privacy and security. That’s beyond the control of the planner; hence that also makes it imperative that we stay aware, and strategize well to execute seamlessly.
Give us some insight behind the starry affair that was Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s extravagant wedding.
Priyanka & Nick are self-made super-achievers. When you meet them, you realize how deserving they both are of their success and fame – and each other. They were extremely professional to work with, trusting and respectful of the teams’ capabilities. Jodhpur was a small affair, with close friends and family. The focus was on ensuring the most intimate and hospitable experience to all guests alike, and matched with the right-scale budget to deliver the same. Priyanka was a sheer delight; in fact, one of the best brides we’ve had the pleasure to work with. Nick is equally charismatic and the most thorough gentleman. The whole wedding took about seven weeks to plan and we maintained utmost security and privacy during the course of the intimate affair.
Please provide a word of inspiration for the new, upcoming set of individuals who strive to follow in your footsteps and make it big in the wedding industry?
Wedding planning is as much an art as it is a craft. Plan well, use common sense, never settle for the obvious. Be true to your spirit and lead with originality!
