What You Need To Know About Throwing A Jack & Jill Party!

A Jack and Jill party is a wedding shower for both bride and the groom done together and is attended by both males and females! It’s like a coed shower attended by both bride’s and groom’s families where they get gifts to start their new life together! We love the concept of a Jack & Jill party as it gives a chance to spend time to spend with each other’s families. But there are certain etiquettes that need to be followed!

It’s also known as stag and doe party, stag and drag party, hen and stag party, buck and doe party, or a wedding social in different parts of the world. So what is it and how to celebrate? Read on to know all your answers!

When?

The party can be kept on any day before 1-3 months of the wedding. Usually, couples are keeping it 3 days before as the guests who are traveling for the wedding day can also be a part of this party. You can combine it with any special day such as our birthday or anniversary or any other. Because these parties usually include both friends and family members of the happy couple, choose a date and time that works well around work schedules and other commitments.

Who Attends?

The aim of the party is to raise funds that will help you cover the cost of the wedding. Hence, you don’t need to invite everybody to this like this, which in turn, will increase your cost. Both bride’s & groom’s families are invited. It’s a more intimate celebration with close ones.  The key guideline is that no one invited to the wedding should be invited. Be clear on invitations that the shower is co-ed, or there may be more women attending and the groom may feel very much like the odd man out.

What Gifts?

When choosing the gifts, you can either look up their registry or think about something the couple would need right after starting their married life. Also, unlike a bridal shower, think about a gift that is universal in nature that can be used by both. You can also contribute to their honeymoon fund or buy them an experience that they could do together.

Stag and Doe

At a “stag and doe,” communities come together to celebrate the spouses-to-be—and give them a financial boost. The ideas originated in Canada where couple typically charges an entry fee that is considered financial aid for them to start their new life. You can incorporate this tradition for your Jack & Jill party.

Themes & Games

Who said only your wedding can have a theme? Make your coed shower fun by adding fun games or a theme that you both like. Although it’s an informal gathering, there should be some formal aspects like a speech or toast to make it an official part of the wedding ceremonies. For the flow- it can be anything like a brunch, pool party, cocktail party or sit-down reception.
