Pantone Color(s) Of The Year Is What 2021 Wedding Dreams Will Be Made Of

With 2020 nearing its end, we all are hoping for the end of this pandemic and our worries. Like all of you, we are excited to welcome 2021 hoping it will be the beginning of new positivity and growth for the wedding industry worldwide. And to add to our excitement, Pantone just released its Color of the Year, and surprise, surprise, it’s not one, but two! After the crazy year, we’ve had, it feels like they knew we needed more than one. So without further ado, those colors are…drum rolls….“Ultimate Grey” and “Illuminating Yellow.”

Pantone says the yellow-and-gray color duo for 2021 carries a message of strength and optimism. “We need to feel that everything is going to get brighter,” said Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute., giving a nod to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Pantone, the colors were selected to represent “fortitude” and some much-needed positivity. The “Ultimate Grey” represents a “stable foundation,” while the “Illuminating yellow” is like our light at the end of the tunnel or sunshine on a cloudy day. Together the two colors show the world’s resiliency as we head into 2021.

Grey is chic and yellow floodlights everything. The 2 colors really match harmoniously together. The result can be a very modern decoration or a casual and cheerful decoration. From table setting to bridesmaid dress to bouquets, this combo is set to make its entry in 2021 weddings. Because of the dual colors, it already gives us a ready-made palette. We don’t have to worry much about choosing colors to mix for the decor. Wedding decor in these colors looks amazing – bright, fresh, and cheerful! Scroll down to catch some inspiration!

A guestbook and the sign-in table is a necessary part of any wedding décor, and it is usually one of the details your guests will see first! It is important to make this spot color-coded to incorporate the essence of this color duo. Another idea is to have round paper lanterns in this color set. If you have outdoor access to power, these would look amazing hung from a tree. You could also hang a cluster over your dance floor for a creative take on a disco ball display.

Using yellow flowers such as mini daffodils, roses, billy balls, orchids, tulips, lilies, daisies, or chrysanthemums is a great way to carry out your theme. Adorn it with gray brunia and dusty miller. Pair a lemon yellow waistcoat and boutonniere with a soft grey suit for a sophisticated yet modern groom’s outfit to brighten things up.

Believe me, you’ll be surprised when you see that these two colors have so many different shades to choose and to combine! Your bridesmaids would look very stylish wearing light grey dresses and bright yellow shoes or flats.

Adorn your guest tables with pillar candles in yellow that are nestled within a grey circle of chiffon or tulle fabric for a simple, but elegant centerpiece. If you want to go bold, try grey vases and bold yellow flowers; cover the tables with grey tablecloths and yellow table runners and napkins. Grey tablecloths and yellow monograms look awesome together, and if you want to add a softer look, add ivory or white decor.
