Our star couple Sanjay and Poonam tied the knot in November last year, with the brilliant team of The Event Designer creating a magical celebration that we just can’t get over! Known for executing one-of-a-kind celebrations for each of their couples, these planners are experts in bringing your vision to fruition in a style that is far beyond your imagination. Get ready to swoon over the photos of this gorgeous wedding, captured through the lens of the pros from Mak Images.
How They Met
Sanjay is an actor known for his role in the popular TV show Kundali Bhagya. He and his wife Poonam, an actor and model, met through Facebook early on in their careers. Finding a lot in common, the love between these sweethearts soon blossomed into a beautiful story that has only just begun!
The Venue & Date
For their venue choice, the couple decided to tie the knot at the Atrio Hotel in New Delhi, a luxury boutique hotel with a gorgeous poolside lawn and spacious courtyards. The festivities and functions were held between the 27th and 28th November, starting with the pre-wedding Mehendi ceremony in the afternoon and closing with a reception to celebrate the newlyweds.
On the 28th, Poonam and Sanjay had a traditional Sikh wedding ceremony known as Anand Karaj (meaning act towards happiness) at the Gurudwara. The ceremony was followed by a reception lunch held at the hotel, featuring a variety of dishes and customized cocktails as part of a fusion menu. It was a Punjabi wedding, after all!
Planning & Decor
Planner Nishita Aggarwal of The Event Designer shares that the team met with Sanjay and Poonam at the venue and discussed decor themes for the Mehendi/Haldi, cocktail party, and the wedding.
For the Mehendi, the bride and groom opted to play with a soft powder palette and use pastel colors. Moving away from the function’s traditionally associated greens and yellows, they wanted to create a striking impact with these offbeat tones. And these photos are more than enough to prove they truly nailed it!
When it came to the cocktail, the couple decided to go the opposite way in terms of colors and tones, envisioning an evening filled with glimmer and bling! The gold accents and stunning lighting contributed to a gorgeous poolside setup that has us mesmerized in true Bollywood fashion.
One of the most exciting moments in a North Indian wedding is when the groom comes on horseback with his friends and family dance around him. For his baraat procession, Sanjay took a more modern approach and decided to ride a vintage car, supported by the Dholis, of course.
The wedding followed a subtler yet equally glamorous theme, keeping things classy, elegant, and tasteful with soft touches of gold, pink, and white. The unique decor setups turned out to be such a fabulous display that the vibrant photos were trending all over social media!
The couple also decided to go that extra mile while thinking about their looks for each function. With matching outfits right from the start, these two are undeniably #couplegoals
