Dubai is a favourite when it comes to destination weddings! The glamour, the opulence, the luxe factor, the hospitality, the Arab culture & heritage…and there is so much more for the city to offer making it quite the popular choice among couples. The same was the case with Hussaina and Ammar!
This couple had their traditional Pakistani wedding in a royal and stunning ceremony in Dubai, crafted by long-standing members of the DWP Community, Catwalk Event Management & Productions from Pakistan under the able leadership of Frieha Altaf.
Reminiscing the planning journey for the wedding, Frieha says “Once the couple approved of the concept we developed a design according to each venue. The spaces of each venue were measured and designed by 2-D and 3-D designers. While respecting the vision of the couple, curating this destination wedding felt almost like producing a romantic feature film including consulting with leading fashion designers in advance for the wardrobes of the bride, the groom and their families.”
Let’s take you through this dreamy and gorgeous wedding that took place in some of Dubai’s iconic venues in December 2024.
HUSSAINA & AMMAR’S TALE OF LOVE
Hussaina is an adventurer & an explorer with a knack for humour and heart as vast as the ocean. Ammar is a charmer, a hardworking professional by day and a social butterfly by night! So, what happens when these two personalities collide? Well, there had to be sparks in the air! Their journey has been a whirlwind of love, determination and shared dreams.
On December 23rd 2023, the couple got engaged and exactly a year later exchanged vows and started the journey of togetherness on December 22nd 2024.
PEELI SHAAM: THE MAAYOUN CEREMONY
Maayoun is a traditional pre-wedding event in the Pakistani culture where the bride and groom and their families get together for an event where a turmeric paste is applied to the soon-to-be couple to get their wedding glow on ahead of the big day! The function took place on December 16th at Hussaina’s residence.
The event was designed with earthy tones to give it a homely vibe. The couple wore vibrant outfits by fashion virtuoso Fahad Hussayn.
SUR KA CARAVAN: MUSICAL EVENING
The second pre-wedding event took place on December 18th in Caravanserai, Dubai. The event was a spectacular musical evening set against the breath-taking backdrop of the Dubai desert. For this function the groom chose to wear an elegant traditional outfit by Nomi Ansari while the bride dazzled in a stunning creation by Huma Adnan.
FLOATING MELA: THE MEHENDI NIGHT
The mehendi function is one of the most important pre-wedding events in both the Pakistani and Indian culture. The bride’s hands are adorned with mehendi or henna which is an integral part of the traditional bridal look. The event took place on December 20th at the Queen Elizabeth 2 Hotel with a very cool theme of ‘Floating Mela’ or a floating carnival! The venue was adorned with vibrant truck art-inspired decor, and the bridal couple complemented each other in colourful outfits by Nomi Ansari.
NOOR-E-HAWA: THE WEDDING CEREMONY
The grand finale, the wedding ceremony known as the ‘Nikah’ took place on December 22nd at the Armani Hotel against the backdrop of the iconic Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The ceremony was nothing less than a modern, luxurious ceremony with nuances of traditional Pakistani culture.
In terms of the outfit for the big day, Ammar opted for an Amir Adnan piece, while Hussaina picked a traditional elegant outfit crafted by Nomi Ansari.
Looking back at the wedding and proud of what she and her team have accomplished, Frieha says “What now needs to happen at all weddings is a personalised curation based on the couple’s vision dovetailed with the event designer’s expertise. It is very seldom that a wedding is designed to cater to the personalized needs of the couple and what they want. This personalized curation for weddings has become a global trend and I always like to implement new innovations in my work.”
