The 7th annual DWP Congress finally came to life on the spectacular island of Rhodes, Greece, and it was a time we aren’t going to forget! The Congress saw attendees from over 40 countries celebrate coming together once again after a year and a half, make the most of networking opportunities, and party the way only wedding planners and professionals know-how. And if you missed out on all the great DWP action, we’re here to take you through what went down during the three days on the island.
Greece is ancient sun-bleached ruins piercing blue skies, the balmy Aegean lapping an endless coastline and a culture alive with passionate music, wonderful cuisine and thrill-seeking activities. Head on to visitgreece.gr to discover Greece’s best sights and travel advice!
Before we get into the details, we can’t miss out on thanking our official Destination Partner- Greek National Tourism Organisation(GNTO), and their Deputy Secretary-General Mr. Konstantinos Zikos for their incredible support. We’d like to thank Region of South Aegean Governor Mr. George Hatzimarkos, Mayor of Rhodes Mr. Antonios V. Cambourakis, and Deputy Mayor of Tourism and Public & International Relations Department, Municipality of Rhodes and Tourism Department, Mr. Athanasios Vyrinis, all graced us with their presence and welcomed the DWP family with open arms and wide smiles. General Manager Mr. Lefteris Tsoukalas of our Host Partner Mitsis Alila Resort & Spa was also present at the 3-day event, representing the gorgeous property that all our attendees fell in love with.
Touch Down At Rhodes & A Pleasant Surprise
Now on to the commencement of our 7th annual DWP! First up, we look at the exciting start on day one, where we had a pool party, an Old Town tour, and finally, a welcome reception to kick-start the much-awaited Congress!
Chillin’ & Staying Cool By The Pool
Day one started off with a relaxing pool party where all the attendees enjoyed refreshing drinks and delicious snacks while catching up with each other.
We then moved on to a tour of the Old Town, involving street performances of traditional music and sword fighting. Our travel partner Kapco Travels provided the buses to the Old Town and to Kallithea Springs right after for the welcome reception and party!
On The Road In Rhodes – Exploring The Medieval Town
After that interesting tour of the Old Town, we headed to the gorgeous venue Kallithea Springs to indulge in a night among the mighty Greek Gods and experience them coming alive to showcase their glory.
A Night Among The Gods
The first night was a blast, where the talented team from Iconique Wedding Shows brought Greek Gods to life. They put on a magical act that each of our guests absolutely loved, followed by Megan McConnell and her band performing songs live for the crowd to groove to and the Rhodes Wedding DJ playing hits later in the evening.
At the end of the night, fireworks lit up the sky as the closing show by Zairis Fireworks. With all of this, plus food and drinks provided by Mitsis Alila, we’d say day one closed on a very high note and had everyone looking forward to the start of the conference.
Commencing The Conference
The two days of the conference covered a wide spectrum of topics, from changing trends and price talks to delving into the luxury travel market and so much more! Our speakers and panelists come from a strong background with years of experience and a wealth of knowledge only the best in the industry have. Our entertainment partner Shmulikim even got the crowd energized and on their feet with a fun dance towards the end of conference day two.
Networking Sessions & Biz Chats
The one-to-one meetings and networking sessions gave attendees the best opportunities to know each other and build new connections. Apart from the coffee breaks, luncheons, and party nights, this was the perfect window during the conference for our attendees to put their best business foot forward and help each other grow their brands.
A Night To Remember – Modern, Chic, & All Things Greek
Good food, good music, and great people. The DWP Theme Night was a remarkable time with unmatched energy and great entertainment that everyone loved. After a busy first day of networking and conferences, all our attendees were ready to have some fun and dance the night away. And in the cold weather, they set the floor on fire with their moves!
DWP Gala Dinner & ACE Awards
We ended the 7th annual on the highest of notes with the Gala Dinner and after-party! The Gala Dinner organized by the brilliant team of Amuse Bespoke involved a romantic story translated through an act of dance, a delicious four-course meal, and the DWP ACE Awards! The amazing Shine Band performed at the afterparty, getting everyone pumped up and on the dance floor through the night.
We thank our entire DWP family, including delegates, sponsors, partners, and of course, the Rhodes and Greece government bodies, for all the support in making this year a success! We’ll see you next year for our Bali edition. Until then, stay tuned for more exciting content on Insider and our DWP pages.
