“You always gain by giving love.” – Reese Witherspoon
It was a Fusion Wedding – A Caucasian Groom and an Indian Bride. The bride and groom met in DC at a bar where they started their journey, and eventually, after a few more dates, they were compelled with the idea of spending life together. “It took a couple more dates for Zach to finally work up the courage to kiss me and the rest is history!” Tells Ragini. On November 11, 2018, in Napa Valley, California, Zach asked Ragini to be his wife. It was the easiest decision that he’s ever made. Ragini, after some shock and awe, said yes. They officially tied the knot on 31 August 2019.
The wedding ceremonies and rituals were planned in detail as per the taste and personalities of the bride and the groom by the incredible Minoti Mehta from San Francisco and her team from Vermilion Weddings. “We were inspired by the beautiful natural scenery of the Carmel Valley and the architecture of Holman Ranch. We wanted to keep to the authenticity of the venue instead of taking away from it.” Says Minoti Mehta, Founder of Vermilion Weddings
Due to the diverse and cultural aspects present, the function had 4 events – the Sangeet, a Western Ceremony, an Indian Ceremony, and a Reception – all outdoors in the middle of the beautiful Carmel Valley, CA. The Decor for all the events was very organic and natural – for the mandap and western ceremony, they used local wildflowers and plants which are native to CA that the bride and groom wanted. For the Hindu ceremony, Ragini looked stunning on her wedding day in a gorgeous emerald Sabyasachi lehenga whereas Zach wore a sage Sabyasachi sherwani and complimented Ragini well. His arrival in a vintage car amidst color bombs was the highlight of the wedding. It was a treat for the eyes of guests to witness this gorgeous fusion wedding rituals.
Their wedding functions were minimalist set against the backdrop of the breath-taking views of the Santa Lucia Mountains. Holman Ranch is elegant and sophisticated, yet charming and cozy. Imagine wine tasting in stunning vineyards, exchanging vows among the rolling hills, and enjoying 400 acres all to yourselves. That’s what a wedding weekend at Holman Ranch looks like.
