When the news broke that Akash Ambani had proposed to his long-time close friend Shloka Mehta, we all knew that this celebration would be fit for royalty indeed. And what an incredible past few days it has been! We’ve witnessed heart – stopping couture, incredible décor, over the top celebrations and scrumptious food.
With the crème de la crème coming together to celebrate this joyous union, the guest list was bursting with VVIP’s ranging from superstar celebrities to superb cricketers; from incredible film producers to industrial giants as all the glitterati descended upon Mumbai, glamourous couture to boot.
30th June 2018 will go down in history as the date that saw Akash and Shloka declare their undying love for each other with the promise of a December wedding in front of superstars like Shah Rukh Khan with wife Gauri Khan and dashing son Aryan Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and mom Neetu Kapoor, the stunning Madhuri Dixit with her husband Dr Sriram Nene, the Bachchans Abhishekh, Aishwarya and their lovely daughter Aaradhya, Sidharth Malhotra, Aditya Roy Kapur, Arjun Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Parineeti Chopra, Ayan Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, newly-weds Sagarika Ghatge and Zaheer Khan to give you just a small glimpse into just how star studded this event actually was!
The stunning brides to be Isha Ambani (Akash’s sister who is soon to be wed to Anand Piramal ) as well as the lovey Shloka Meta wore Besoke Bridal by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla Couture. Rumour has it that Sabyasachi will be designing a white bridal gown for the very first time, for one of these lovely ladies too! A little birdy told us that their engagement cake was an incredibly beautiful, golden hued five-tiered extravaganza and the stylings of celebrity patisserie queen Bunty Mahajan of Deliciae Cakes created the delicious gateau. She was the Cake Designer behind their divine cake at their initial celebration a few months earlier as well.
Not to miss out on the buzz doing the rounds that California based Internationally renowned floral designer Karen Tran, best known for creating romantic and mesmerizing weddings all over the world, wove her charm with mystical floral designs across the opulent spaces at Antilia celebrating this regal engagement.
Akash Ambani serves on the board of Reliance Jio, the group’s fast growing telecom venture and is the eldest son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani while Shloka Mehta is the youngest daughter of diamond magnate Russel and Mona Mehta and is the Director of the Rosy Blue Foundation since July 2014. She is also the co-founder of ConnectFor, a platform which matches volunteers with NGOs that need them.
It was a celebration replete with traditional dances, surprise flash mobs with the top names from Bollywood, gastronomical delights, fabulous couture and incredible décor. All eyes on Mumbai indeed, as we gear up with bated breath for the wedding of the year – their ceremony, which we believe will be this December; and we can’t wait to see the opulence that the ceremony promises to be.
