The bride of the season is a cool bride. She approves of nonchalant detailing with a retro, music driven vibe. There is something almost poetic about the beautiful detailing, curated expertly but in a way to look like summer’s English rose-gone-goth.
The Marines:
If there was one beauty trend that truly dominated all four fashion weeks, it was every make-up artists’ obsession with all things sparkly, shimmery and shiny. Glittery eyelids were on show at Topshop, Undercover and Stella Jean, whilst stick-on gems, jewels and rhinestones stole the show(s) at Dries Van Noten, Jeremy Scott and Givenchy
The Meghan Effect:
During her first official engagement, the newest member of the British royal family, Meghan Markle wore minimal makeup and swept her long brunette hair into a loose bun with face-framing tendrils, causing a worldwide frenzy on breaking royal aesthetic protocol of structured sleek buns, and for being on-point with the runway trends of relaxed imperfectly perfect day hair. Think of French women with perfectly wavy, glossy-looking hair – a sort of impossible-to-achieve second-day blow- dry look. It may not be new, but it still looks as cool as ever. Take your cues from Isabel Marant, Chloé and Altuzarra.
The Floral Fantasy:
Channelling the strength and allure of Frida Kahlo, Naeem Khan’s brides this season donned dramatic flower headbands worn as a tiara, sitting on top of a heavily braided bun. The statement-worthy headgear demands instant attention and sits perfectly with romanticism of the season.
Tangerine Treats:
Not for the faint-hearted, the new season electric orange hued lips and nails as seen at Moschino is a bold look with a fusion of carnival frivolity, 80s maximalism with a sprinkling of Grace Jones. If you like to dare, choose an orange eyeshadow like Fyodor Golan or J. JS Lee, who apply it both on the eyelid, as well as on the crease. Alternatively, you can play with a rainbow effect, like Emilio De La Morena‘s models. If you like things to match, Oscar De La Renta shows us how to smudge our orange with a fuchsia eyeshadow or pencil. For the younger and the bolder among us, an orange mascara will be a true must for your vanity.
